Amplifying Justice and Accountability

Our Story

Aaliyah Moton was found deceased on March 30, 2024.

The cause was ruled “accident.” Her family believes she was murdered, as indicated by the witnesses that informed them of the event long before the police was able to get in contact with her own mother and that her killer made it look like an overdose to avoid scrutiny. Along with Aaliyah informing the family that if an "accident" of this nature occurs, that it will definitely be foul play involved as a result of her own suspicion.

Over a year later, her case remains untouched in the absence of dependable leadership and execution by the Bessemer PD. Evidence ignored. Leads forgotten. A life reduced to a statistic.

She was not the first. And she won’t be the last.

We are building something to change that!

Justice For Aaliyah is a movement born from grief and built on truth. We are here to fight for families whose loved ones were taken and whose cases were buried under the false label of "accidental overdose" or "cause unknown" with leads presented to investigative entities that do not take any action. There are too many protections for local law enforcement entities being negligent and when someone has a desire to report anything, it is to the internal affairs department of the same enitity that shares the same payroll with the negligent party.

We are demanding:

  • Real investigations.
  • Accountability from law enforcement.
  • Support for families who refuse to be silenced.

This nonprofit exists for the unheard, the dismissed, and the abandoned — especially in Black and brown communities, where justice is too often delayed or denied.

We’re just getting started!!!

Join us as we launch a national effort to expose negligence, re-open cases, and tell the stories law enforcement hoped you’d forget.

Because lives don’t stop mattering when the headlines fade and cases such as this dont just disappear because an officer huffs and puffs about the paperwork/work required to close the case with a legitmate conclusion
